One of the sixty programs of study offered at Mississippi University for Women is nursing. It was identified that enrollment or completion of nursing programs was impacted by a student’s financial need. A grant from The Bower Foundation was awarded to the nursing program to enhance completion rates and support student success by providing scholarships to nursing students with financial need.

Founded in 1884 as the first public college for women in the United States, The W is a tradition-rich university that has been home to such noted personalities as Pulitzer Prize-winning author Eudora Welty, among others. Forty years ago, The W opened its doors to men.
