Removing financial barriers for low income college students.

Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is made up of more than 3.75 million members in nearly 1,300 chapters in 11 nations. PTK is recognized as the official honor society for associate degree-granting colleges by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). Nationally, 91% of the PTK members complete college and/or transfer to a four-year college or university.

Mississippi is host to 35 PTK chapters with over 10,800 current members. Approximately $38M in transfer scholarships go to PTK members in Mississippi. PTK members in Mississippi have a 93% success rate in college.

This one-year grant will remove the financial barrier for PTK membership for MS students who are 1) Pell-eligible and 2) currently enrolled and attending courses in a healthcare curriculum that results in certification or licensure.
