USM Gulf Park – Accelerated Nursing Degree

Helping nursing students fast-track to graduation.

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Park Campus offers more than 30 in-demand degrees. Students live and study right along the beach in the state’s only beachfront university campus. More than just a scenic setting at our beachfront campus you can begin your journey to become a part of the blue economy with majors such as marine science, industrial engineering technology, and sustainability studies not to mention accounting, Health Sciences, criminal justice, or even film studies.

The Accelerated Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (ABSN) pathway grants a student with a previous bachelor’s degree an opportunity to earn a second-degree in nursing. Successful completion of the ABSN pathway permits the student to make application to take the National Council Licensure Examination for RN (NCLEX-RN) licensure.

This project aims to provide life-changing opportunities to healthcare students on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This project offers financial assistance for tuition and fees to a minimum of 20 nursing students. These students will be able to focus on their studies and future careers without the burden of financial stress. Eligible students must complete the FAFSA, show proof of Mississippi residency, demonstrate a
disadvantaged background per the National Institutes of Health definition, and express their commitment to either work or pursue further education in Mississippi upon graduation.
